At Doddinghurst CofE Junior School our systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP) of choice is Little Wandle. This is to ensure consistency for the children joining us from our main feeder infant school, Dodidnghurst Infants.
Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised is a complete systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP) developed for schools by schools. Based on the original Letters and Sounds, but extensively revised to provide a complete teaching programme meeting all the expectations of the National Curriculum, the Ofsted Deep Dive into reading and preparing your children to go beyond the expectations of the Phonics Screening Check.
During Autumn Term in Year 3, children will have a daily phonics sessions to ensure their phonological awareness is fully embedded before replacing the session with a daily grammar session to mimic the rest of the school. For those children that need extra support with their phonics, daily 'keep up' sessions will be run in addition to main class teaching.

In Year 3, we start with Autumn Term, Year 1 and revisit and review to meet the children's needs.
